Old house house renovation.

Installing a five-vehicle blacktop parking lot driveway

Our old house, which has the benefit of available street parking, needed an on-site parking solution. The property once housed a garage near the alley, leaving behind only a cracked concrete pad and the remnants of a limestone foundation. Recognizing the need for ample parking space, we embarked on installing a five-vehicle blacktop paving parking lot. Covering over one thousand square feet, this installation accommodates five cars and provides ample space for an RV motorhome, enhancing the functionality and appeal of our property.

The Blacktop Installation Process: From Foundation to Blacktop

The journey to a new driveway began with removing the old concrete pad and the limestone foundation, clearing the way for new construction. The next step involved laying a deep gravel base, meticulously packed and sloped, to ensure stability and proper drainage. This preparation was crucial for the following blacktop paving, laying the groundwork for a durable and reliable parking area. By addressing these foundational aspects, we ensured the driveway would be functional and long-lasting.

Final Touches and Future Plans

With the blacktop now in place, our property boasts a large, versatile parking area that significantly enhances its value and usability. This new driveway not only meets our current parking needs but also adds a sleek, finished look to the exterior of the duplex. As we conclude this renovation phase, we focus on the next project: revitalizing the porches. This continual improvement reflects our commitment to enhancing our property, ensuring it meets our needs and aesthetic standards while increasing its appeal and functionality.
